Infrared thermography is the best way to detect unforeseen problems and ensures the integrity of your electrical system while reducing potential costly down time, fire or safety risks. Infrared thermography is an invaluable tool in determining the condition of electrical equipment.
Thermal infrared scanning is a non-invasive diagnostic technique that allows our technicians to visualize and quantify changes in the surface temperature of electrical equipment. The infrared detector in the camera converts the electromagnetic thermal energy outside our viewing spectrum and converts this energy into electronic signals creating a digital image. Thermal imaging identifies equipment flaws and pinpoints any hotspots often invisible to the naked eye. We use a professional infrared camera that is accurate within 1 degree sensitivity with capablities of taking thermal images in the ultraviolet spectrum and digital photographs side by side. We also take video for change in temperature over time.
Typically, a scan is completed during the peak hours of operation to identify hot connections at termination points, bus connections, overheating breakers, switches, fuses, contactors and electrical apparatus. A comprehensive technical report is provided to identify findings of critical equipment to be maintained, repaired or replaced. Each reports comes with thermal images of our findings, degree of priority for the course of action and recommendations.
Our technicians also perform infrared inspection on your "live" electrical system using the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for safety purposes. During our inspections we will make notes of unsafe equipment and code violations for correction.
With these reports we can proactively create a preventative maintenance program for our clients to make better decisions about equipment care, maintenance, safety, budgeting and operations. With this approach we maximize the electrical maintenance program and reduce the overall costs for our clients.
Our technicians are fully qualified electricians who can identify problems through our infrared inspections and at times, complete the repairs at the time of inspection. Having qualified electricians with this technical expertise maintains continuity with one service provider for our clients.
